Educational Supervisor at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand centers, and client transportation.

The Learning Center is a national organization where the Adult Education section provides education for the clients of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. At each prison in the country and some remand centers, there is one or more learning centers where teachers teach at basic and upper secondary levels, corresponding to municipal adult education, as well as Swedish for immigrants. Adult education is nationally coordinated and organized so that studies can function regardless of which facility a client comes to and even if they are transferred during their studies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Clients who need education can apply and be referred to Adult Education. The teaching is individualized and takes place at the Norrköping remand center and the Skenäs prison learning center. You will support students and teachers, both practically and pedagogically, in the role of educational supervisor. The teaching teacher may be located locally or remotely at another prison. This means that in your role, you will have continuous contact with and collaborate with teachers and other colleagues across the country. Children and young people in remand, who are enrolled in a basic or upper secondary school in the community, receive help in establishing contact with the relevant school to continue their studies - you are the link between the student and the school.

QUALIFICATIONS

In your role as an educational supervisor, you are a skilled educator with the will and ability to motivate, inspire, and lead students to achieve their goals. You are clear and engaged in your work and have a good ability to create structure and systematics. The work is carried out both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues, which is why good cooperation and initiative skills are important qualities, as well as the ability to work independently.

It is important for us that you share the fundamental values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of people, respect for the individual, and belief in the human will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally through your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

• High school diploma
• Experience working in educational activities in upper secondary school and/or adult education
• Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish
• Good computer skills and experience working with digital support systems

It is meritorious if you have:

• Educational training with a focus on school
